Let me start by saying I am jewish and getting a tattoo is pretty much forbidden. I have a friend who recently got her first tattoo here and she praised the shop and the artist. I decided one day while on break to go in and quench my curiosity. Granted the shop is spotless and that is a big part of it. All my good impressions went down hill from there.
I do have an idea of what tattoo I want, if I were to ever get one. I was greeted with a friendly hello by Chris. I told him my story and what I was looking for. I asked to see his portfolio and was quickly showed pictures other artists have done via a google search. Now again I dont have any tattoos but believe a shop of this kind should def have portfolios of each artist. He convinced me to schedule an consult, although he kept belittling my concerns about religion. I didnt realize at the time but the consult was on one of the days of a holiday coming up. I am not allowed to do business things on the holiday so that would rule out a tattoo. This concern was on top of my preexisting hang ups of no tattoos for jews.
I met my friend who was getting more work done and told chris about my concerns, to which he quickly put them all down. He pointed to a skeleton in the corner of the shop which has a sign reminding people to give tips and said that also happens to people who dont keep their consult appointments. I explained to him again about the holiday and my concerns. I am not joking, he actually rolled his eyes and said whatever. I retorted to someone who doesnt hold of the religion it doesnt mean anything. Now i am no businessman, but if I had a customer who had same concerns I would advise him to be sure he wanted it and understand his concerns about his religion.
Needless to say I will not get any work done here.
As for his actual work, I only saw what my friend had done, two words on her wrist which cost $120. I saw a colored crown tattoo done at Three Kings for $60. Not sure about pricing but his sounded astronomical. He also kept bragging about his work and how people on instagram from various countries world wide liked it. In my opinion you let your work speak for itself, not boast about it.
So in short, I feel he is unprofessional not understanding and in it for the cash.
Hope if you go there you have other experiences. Sorry for length of this review.
